Tonight Childish Gambino made his TV debut on Late Night performing “Bonfire” from his forthcoming album Camp. It was so good. SO GOOD.

Wow, I never realized how dirty this song was until it was played on national television.

And yes, SO.FUCKING.GOOD.

Foursquare Win

So I’m sitting in Phoenix Coffee on west 9th doing some light criminal law reading when @dens Dennis Crowley reminds me on twitter that FourSquare will have superbowl check ins available tonight. I don’t use foursquare much, mostly because my vintage blackberry curve 8300 tends to require an extra battery pull when I tax it with apps… (iphone tomorrow!)… that’s being said;

“Oh man,” i think to myself, “better check into Phoenix on 4sq!”

For the first time in my short experience with the service, I was informed that I am only 6 days away from becoming the mayor of this illustrious local gem of a coffee store. Six checkins away! That’s nothing! Boom, I will now be at Phoenix Coffee for the next six days straight… probably more. So Phoenix, while I appreciate your coffee, it’s fair trade purchase, and local roasting… I will be coming back specifically because I want to the be mayor of your West 9th location… and you didn’t have to pay Foursquare a dime. Furthermore, maybe it’s just because my iphone 4 comes in the mail tomorrow, but I will be sure that I will be using Foursquare substantially more in the future, just for the chance to have an imaginary mayorship of all the local establishments I visit! A win win for Phoenix and Foursquare!

What an interesting article and idea. Two things I took away from this article, which I highly recommend. First, Facebook is bringing in double the revenue google was bringing in when it went public… rumored to be over $2 billion. Fascinating. Second, Facebook is following a very similar revenue pattern that Google followed in its private years. It’s incredible how fast these companies grow, from 63 million a year, to 2 billion a year to… where is the cap?

Worth the read for sure.
